Emerge Africa Awards Terms And Conditions

  1. The competition will run from 1 February 2025 to 15 March 2025. Entries submitted outside this period will not be considered.
  2. Each criterion is applied as necessary in each category to guarantee a fair and thorough evaluation. The selection process will include:

    2. Creativity and Innovation
    3. Public Voting
    4. Engagement and Influence
    5. Impactful Leadership
  3. Winners will be contacted directly using the details provided during their entry. This may include email, phone, or SMS. Participants are responsible for ensuring their contact information is accurate.
  4. The winners will be invited to attend the Emerge Africa Awards Gala Dinner in Johannesburg, which marks the 4th annual event this year. Further details will be provided to winners upon notification.

  6. Participants can be voted for by anyone in South Africa. Each SMS costs R5, and 1 SMS = 1 Vote or 1 Entry. For example:
    • SMS AFRICA to 37587 to cast your vote.
  7. Network fees may apply.
  8. Standard SMS rates as charged by the participant’s network provider are not included in the competition fee.

    Requirements from WASPA

  10. LogicSMS is a member of WASPA and is bound by the WASPA Code of Conduct. Customers have the right to approach WASPA to lodge a complaint in accordance with the WASPA complaints procedure. LogicSMS may be required to share information relating to a service or a customer with WASPA for the purpose of resolving a complaint. WASPA website: www.waspa.org.za
  11. LogicSMS has the right to suspend or terminate the services of any customer who does not comply with these terms and conditions or any other related contractual obligations.
  12. LogicSMS has the right to take down any content (hosted as part of the service) that it considers illegal or for which it has received a take-down notice.
  13. A cellphone registered on a South African network with access to SMS capability will need an SMS application and sufficient airtime. Free SMS/airtime does not apply.
  14. The service won’t be used by the Emerge Africa Awards to:
    • Intentionally engage in illegal conduct
    • Knowingly create, store, or disseminate any illegal content
    • Knowingly infringe copyright
    • Knowingly infringe any intellectual property rights
    • Send spam or promote the sending of spam
  15. The terms and conditions for any service must not contain clauses that contradict the requirements of the WASPA Code of Conduct.
  16. The service must only be used with the permission of the bill-payer (for paid services).
  17. The service must only be used with the permission of a parent or guardian (for children’s services).
  18. Nominees agree that Emerge Africa Awards has the right to use any photos, videos, and materials submitted during the nomination process for promotional and marketing purposes.
  19. Emerge Africa Awards reserves the right to use these materials post-awards and will not remove any photos or materials at the request of the nominee, even if they withdraw from the competition.
  20. All decisions made by the Emerge Africa Awards judging panel are final and binding.
  21. Emerge Africa Awards will not engage in any negotiations or discussions regarding the outcomes after the winners have been announced.
  22. Emerge Africa Awards reserves the right to select winners at its sole discretion.
  23. We reserve the right to cancel or merge categories where there is insufficient evidence of participation or where the quality of entries does not meet our standards.
  24. Emerge Africa Awards is not obligated to choose a winner in every category, particularly if there is no substantial interest or participation.
  25. Nominees must ensure that all information and materials submitted are accurate and authentic.
  26. Nominees are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions for the use of third-party materials in their submissions.
  27. By participating, nominees grant Emerge Africa Awards the right to use their name, likeness, and biographical information for promotional and marketing purposes without additional compensation.
  28. Nominees must be able to travel to Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend the awards ceremony. Failure to attend may result in disqualification.
  29. If a nominee chooses to withdraw from the competition, they must notify Emerge Africa Awards in writing. However, previously submitted materials will remain the property of Emerge Africa Awards and may still be used for promotional purposes.
  30. Nominees are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and respect throughout the competition. Any behavior deemed inappropriate by Emerge Africa Awards may result in disqualification.
  31. Nominees agree to comply with all the rules and regulations of the Emerge Africa Awards. Failure to do so may result in disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes or recognition.
  32. Nominees must respect the confidentiality of the judging process and agree not to disclose any proprietary information or decisions related to the awards until officially announced by Emerge Africa Awards.
  33. Emerge Africa Awards reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Nominees will be notified of any changes, and continued participation in the awards will signify acceptance of the updated terms.
  34. Nominees acknowledge that it is their responsibility to remain informed about all important updates, announcements, and changes pertaining to the Emerge Africa Awards. This includes regularly checking the official website and following our social media pages. Emerge Africa Awards will not be held liable for any missed information or announcements resulting from the nominee’s failure to stay updated.
  35. While the Emerge Africa Awards are traditionally held in a physical venue, we reserve the right to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and host the awards in a virtual format if necessary. This decision may depend on factors such as sponsor involvement or logistical considerations. We strongly encourage nominees to be mindful of potential changes in the event format and remain flexible in the event of such adjustments.
  36. Each nominee will receive an official personalized poster from the Emerge Africa Awards organization, along with a unique voting code. It is a requirement for nominees to promote this poster on their social media platforms and other networks to garner votes. This promotion is essential for engaging with the public and maximizing participation in the voting process.
  37. Nominees for the Emerge Africa Awards 2025 will be officially announced at the end of January 2025.
  38. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place End of March (Date to be confirmed), 2025. Any changes to the date or format of the event will be communicated in advance. Emerge Africa Awards will not be held liable for nominees who miss announcements or updates due to failure to stay informed through the provided communication channels.
